These rods do not lose fish. They are my favorite rods. They have retired my other rods. Keep up the good work, ARK!
I have given great reviews for these rods in the past, but just in the past month I've had two of them break and in both instances there was absolutely no reason that either of the rods should have broken. They were different rod models and in one instance I was landing a 2 lb fish in the boat and the rod broke beneath the 2nd guide down from the tip. In the other instance I was setting the hook on a fish, a relatively gentle hook set by most standards, and the rod broke between the 4th and 5th guides from the tip. I don't like this at all. I can see a rod breaking if it has been abused or stepped on, but never in the process of catching relatively small fish when the rod has been properly taken care of. If it happens again I'll be looking at another rod makers rods. It's not worth the time and trouble (and cost for shipping) if it is going to be this common of an occurrence. I take excellent care of my equipment and there is no explanation for this type of breakage other than defective rods, imo.
Hi Jim,
First, we want to thank you for your service!
We understand how frustrating it is to have a rod break while fighting a small fish. In most cases, however, the blank has already sustained damage before the failure occurs, even if there were no visible signs. Since your rod broke around the second guide—a section of the blank that experiences very little flex during normal fishing—it is very likely that the blank had been damaged previously.
We certainly appreciate that you take good care of your equipment. Even so, small impacts or accidents can happen without being noticed. That's exactly why we offer our no-questions-asked warranty, which also covers accidental breakage.
There's no need to send the entire rod back to us. To save you the cost of return shipping, simply cut off the section of the blank that includes the model number and send us that small piece.
Please feel free to submit a warranty claim through our website, and we'll take care of the rest from there.
Thank you, and we look forward to getting you back on the water as quickly as possible.
I am a professional fisherman and a Guide and have over 100 rotten real combo that I own. I also collect them. I have to admit that the commander service brought is one of the finer arc rod that they have built. It is incredibly light incredibly sensitive and so far incredibly strong, plus if you purchased the matching reel, which is the same color and has the built-in anti-backlash system it cast a country mile with very little effort a tremendous package for the price you give it a try, no matter what level of fisherman even if you were Shimano guy I think you’ll be impressed at how smooth, long casting and comfortable they are to use.
To all my Vet brethren that are looking for a solid rod that is ultra light. Look no further than the Ark Commander series. I’m only 4 rods away from owning the entire series. If you are active, prior service or retired reach out to Ark rods trust me you can’t go wrong. This company flat out shows how much they care for U.S. Military. Thank you Ark!!!!
We appreciate your service! Enjoy fishing!
This is a great rod. I got it to throw chatterbaits. I wanted a shorter rod that would be easier to target cast with and its awesome. Throws a 3/8 chatterbait and spinnerbait a mile. I really appreciate what ARK Fishing does for veterans, their discounts are amazing. You dont see that kind of discount everywhere.
